On July 26, 2018, the building manager of Ivy Manor came in to do my annual apartment inspection. The inspection is supposed to be just for mechanical damage. They are supposed to be looking for broken light switches, water faucets, running toilets, and whatever. Most inspections are not supposed to go in searching for cleanliness, but they do. My apartment was spotless, and I passed with flying color. Of course, this post is not about the inspection. It’s about what happened after the inspection.
About thirty minutes after the inspection was finished, I received a text message from the manager. The message said that she was going to get me something special for my apartment being so neat and clean, however, she heard all of the rumors that I said that she was stupid, that I was trying to get her in trouble, and that I ever talked about sabotaging her car. My God, if I was going to do it, I would just do it. I wouldn’t tell everyone about it. How stupid does this little nit wit think that I am?
As it turned out, another tenant, Kris, not Chris was the one who made the comments. Two of the other tenants told this manager right in front of me, that it was the other Kris and not me making the comments. The manager apparently didn’t hear a word they said. She kept on making remarks as though I was the one at fault.
“Why are you doing this?”
“What did I do to deserve this?”
“I thought we were on a different level than this.”
I just walked away knowing that she was going to keep this up. This is the second time she has accused me of doing something that I had nothing to do with.
“Lisa, lie to yourself all you want if it makes you feel better. We know the truth, and it’s not on your side.”
